Report:

“Netflix has renewed multi-camera comedy series The Upshaws, from co-creators, executive producers and co-showrunners  Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes, for a second season. In a vote of confidence to the blue-collar sitcom, starring Mike Epps, Sykes and Kim Fields, is has been picked up for a 16 half-hour episodes, expected to run in two batches of 8, an increase from the 10-episode first season.”

The update comes barely a month after the May 12 premiere of the series. Taking to press to celebrate the news, Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s Head of Comedy, relayed:

“Wanda and Regina have created a fresh entry in the tradition of Black sitcoms that’s real, relatable, full of heart and incredibly funny. We’re thrilled to see where they, along with their talented cast, take the Upshaws in the second season.”

Deserved. A lot more funnier than Jamie Foxx’s Netflix show.

This show is hilarious! I wasn’t sure if I would like it after realizing that it is full of stereotypes but it is irresistibly funny, couldn’t stop laughing and couldn’t stop watching. I’m a homebody when I’m off from work so I started and finished the whole season in one weekend. So glad they are bringing it back, would’ve been upset if not for all of the stated reasons and because Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger.

Forgot to mention that the entire cast is great, from the leads and supporters to just occasional appearers, they carefully casted every role including the children. Everyone contributes laughs in their own way. The interaction between Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps is just plain funny and Kim is the perfect mediator…Kim has another hit on her hands!

The funniest show on Netflix. The only sitcom I can rewatch on Netflix. It’s like getting a daily dose of the golden girls
